with one of the most charming and complete itineraries.
Visit Mt. Etna, the highest active volcano in Europe which will offer you unforgettable views, with
lunar landscapes and a lush vegetation.
“An island within the island”, as the Arabs defined
the Nebrodi’s mountains; and visitors will soon
understand why, by discovering this wonderful places,
full of woods, green pastures, silent lakes and flowing rivers.
Finally, gently lulled by Aeolus’
breath, come to see the pearls of the Mediterranean Sea,
surrounded by a mythological sea, finding out surprisingly active volcanoes.

Program
Day1:
Arrival and meeting with the tour guide,
presentation of the trip programme. Transfer
to the hotel in Catania,
accommodation in the rooms.
Dinner (not included).
Day2:
Transfer to the southern slope of Mt. Etna.
Excursion to the naturalistic path “Orto Botanico” (Botanical Garden) and visit of the “Santa Barbara “ house. Pocket lunch. Dinner and overnight at the refuge
(4 hours trekking).
Day3:
Excursion from South Etna to the craters and lava flows of 2002. Ascent by cableway up to 2500 m., and by four-wheel
drive bus up to 2900 m.. Excursion with the volcano expert guide to the upper
craters. Trekking on the top of the volcano and arrival at the northern slope
of the mountain. Pocket-lunch.
Return to the refuge, dinner and overnight (8 hours
hiking).
Day4:
Excursion to the “Grotta
del Gelo”, a natural cave well-known for the
particular formation of ice inside.
Pocket-lunch.
Return to the refuge. Dinner and overnight (8 hours
hiking).
Day5:
Excursion to Mt. Nero ( a crater born after the
eruption of 1646-47), and to the “Bottoniera” ( a
wide fracture opened during the eruption of
2002, at a height of 1900 m.).
Visit of the “HORNITOS” (from the Spanish “fornetti”
– “small furnaces”), a series of small cones of scoria dating to 1923. Visit
of Mt. “Ponte di Ferro”, continuation to the
eruptive area of
the year 2002, from where you can enjoy a wonderful view of the lava desert
created by the latest eruptions. Dinner and overnight at the refuge (6 hours
hiking).
Day6:
Nebrodi
Nature Park.
Transfer to the small village of Maniace; excursion to the
alpine lakes “Tre Arie”
and “Pisciotto”. Continuation to Floresta. Dinner and overnight at the hotel. (6 hours
hiking).
Day7:
Nebrodi
Nature Park.
Excursion to the area of Floresta
and Randazzo, along a spectacular path in the heart
of the Regional
Park. Dinner and
overnight at the hotel (6 hours hiking).
Day8:
Transfer
to Milazzo, boarding to Stromboli.
In the afternoon, ascent the the volcano with a
volcano’s expert guide. Observation of the volcanic eruptions of the best
known volcano in the world. Dinner at restaurant, overnight at the hotel.
N.B.
The access to the trails is subjected to regulations of the “Civil Defence”,
which can vary according to the conditions of the volcanic activity and still
provides accompaniment by the local
guides authorized for access to the upper zones of the volcano.
Day9:
Departure by hydrofoil to Vulcano.
The ascent to the “Cratere
della Fossa” (mt. 386) will fascinate you with its fumaroles, sulphur
crystals and a fantastic view.
Dinner at restaurant and overnight at the hotel (3 hours
hiking)
Day10:
Transfer by hydrofoil to Salina, the greenest island with its
typical twin cones. Ascent to Mt.
Fossa
delle Felci, the island’s
nature reserve. In the late afternoon, return to Vulcano
by hydrofoil. Dinner at restaurant and overnight at the hotel (6 hours
hiking).
Day11:
Departure to Lipari, the
main island of the Aeolian archipel. Excursion till
St. Calogero Thermal Baths. In the afternoon, free
time with possibility to visit the Archaeological museum. In the evening,
return to Vulcano by hydrofoil. Dinner at
restaurant; overnight at the hotel. (3 hours hiking).
Day12:
Transfer to Milazzo, then
to Catania Airport.

volcanic activity and to weather
conditions.
